Tucker Carlson: ‘Make No Mistake, Removing Trump From Office Was the Goal’ of Comey Testimony

Tucker Carlson opened his show tonight by talking about the aftermath of the James Comey hearing, making this observation about why it failed:

“As of 8 PM Eastern Time tonight, Donald Trump is still the President of the United States, and that means that on the most basic level, Comey’s testimony failed to achieve its goal. Make no mistake, removing Trump from office was the goal.”

Carlson acknowledged that there may have been “some overstatements” in the president’s comments today, but said Russia “is just a means” for Democrats and unelected bureaucrats to get Trump out of office because they don’t like the results of the election.

He said that people are essentially accusing him and Jeff Sessions of being “Russian spies,” saying this is about “toppling… a democratically-elected government that the permanent class in Washington doesn’t like.”

Carlson clarified of course that collusion is a serious offense, but said there’s no evidence and that “this whole story is a hoax.” (He also brought up the New York Times report that Comey smacked down as untrue yesterday.)
