Fox News’ Tucker Carlson observed this afternoon that President Trump‘s inaugural address way far more populist than it was conservative.
Perhaps the most notable aspect of Trump’s address was how much he spoke of returning power to the people and making sure the forgotten men and women of America are forgot no more.
Carlson said that the speech showed a clear “repudiation of Obama’s presidency” as well as a “freshness about the way Trump sees the country.”
But he also noted that Trump’s words were not just targeted at Democrats, but at Republicans:
“This was not a conservative speech. There was nothing in here about paring back government. This is populism, and it’s never been as purely distilled as it was… this morning.”
