The Russian government recently passed a ban on the “propagandizing” of “nontraditional sexual relations around minors,” including the depiction of homosexual relationships in advertisements. Many American groups have called for a boycott of the upcoming XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, due to the country’s insistence in enforcing the laws even when homosexual athletes are present for the games.
Tying gay rights activists to what Fischer sees as a pervasive culture of “multiculturalism,” the radio host mockingly suggested that those calling for a boycott instead embrace the Russian laws because they should be “all about celebrating the wonder of diverse cultures all over the world.”
“They ought to be excited about this!” he exclaimed.
“We’ve got plenty of room in our multicultural world for all sorts of different cultural values and trends,” he concluded. “Isn’t this wonderful what Russia is doing. Let’s celebrate diversity and let’s support this tradition in the nation of Russia.”
