Unfortunate Timing: New NBC Show Will Have Scene of Man Being Burned Alive

NBC’s new show Allegiance, debuting tomorrow night, starts out with a scene of a man being burned alive, which appears to be a case of very unfortunate timing, given what’s been in the news this week.

Yes, the debut episode includes a scene of someone being burned alive just days after ISIS put out a video depicting a Jordanian pilot being burned alive.

Deadline, the first site to take note of this unfortunate timing today, says the scene unfolds “in graphic detail for network TV.”

Deadline is now reporting NBC does not plan on altering the scene in question. The Deadline article provides the suggestion this would be done to show “it unfortunately reflects the current realities in the world.”

Allegiance is about a CIA analyst being pitted against his parents, who happen to be two Russian spies, and yes, you’re not the first person to think that sounds like that FX show The Americans. But I digress.
