Van Jones Slams Trump’s NFL Comments: We Need Better Than ‘Bulldozer Response’ for ‘Cheap Applause’

CNN’s Van Jones said today that with the U.S. facing the aftermath of devastating storms and escalating tensions with North Korea, the President of the United States should be a uniter.

But based on President Trump‘s trashing of NFL players silently protesting during the national anthem, he said Trump is choosing to go for “cheap applause lines at campaign style-rallies that strike a really tough nerve, I think, for African-Americans.”

He took particular note of how tone-deaf it is for the President to be telling NFL team owners “to go and discipline all these black guys.”

Jones defended Colin Kaepernick‘s protest and also said that the President shouldn’t be picking a personal fight with someone like Stephen Curry.
