VP Mike Pence Asked if He’s Considered 25th Amendment to Remove Trump

Vice President Mike Pence was asked in an interview with CBS News’ Margaret Brennan whether he has considered invoking the 25th amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office.

Brennan’s questioning came in light of the New York Times op-ed, written anonymously by a senior Trump administration official who claimed Trump’s instability sparked “early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment, which would start a complex process for removing the president.”

When asked if he participated in any of those conversations on Face the Nation, Pence replied: “No, never. And why would we be Margaret?”

“The truth of the matter is over the last eight years despite what we heard from President Obama on Friday, I mean this country was struggling. I mean it was the weakest economic recovery since the Great Depression,” the vice president said.

Pence also attacked the author of the op-ed and the New York Times: “I think the author of the anonymous editorial, and frankly the New York Times, should be ashamed.”

The full interview will air Sunday on Face the Nation.
