Wasserman Schultz Highlights GOP Voter Fraud In Response To James O’Keefe Undercover Video

On Thursday, Starting Point host Soledad O’Brien asked DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz to weigh in on the recent resignation of Patrick Moran from his role as campaign field director for his father, Virginia Rep. Jim Moran. In an undercover video shot by Project Veritas, the conservative organization led by activist James O’Keefe, the younger Moran was seen discussing a plan to commit voter fraud with an undercover operative.

Wasserman Schultz’s called Moran’s actions “indefensible,” but was quick to add that “when something like that happens on our side… first of all, that’s one person and he was quickly, you know, quickly taken out of the campaign and we’ve stressed our commitment to making sure that there is no tolerance for voter fraud. But let’s look at the Republican party, Soledad. In three states, Republicans have gotten caught paying Nathan Sproul’s firm for voter registration fraud. In my state, in Virginia, and one other state, the Republicans paid a firm that was caught deliberately fraudulently registering voters, tossing out some registrations that were Democratic voter registrations. So, you know, the deep-seated, widespread voter fraud that the Republicans seem to have been continuing to contract this firm for, that’s what’s very disturbing.”

Moran, meanwhile, wrote a statement to the Washington Post saying that he did not take the undercover “seriously,” and had only been humoring him.
