WATCH: BBC Strikes Back After Aussie Channel Completely Rips Off Morning Show Promo

Well, it looks like Australian morning show Today — hosted by the legendary Karl Stefanovic and Georgie Gardner — keeps a keen eye on its counterpart in the United Kingdom, the BBC’s flagship morning offering Breakfast.

A recently released promotional ad for show Today, on Australia’s Channel 9, bears a stunning resemblance to an ad released to promote the BBC’s Breakfast in 2016.

And when we say “stunning resemblance,” we really mean that the Today ad completely ripped off the one put out by the BBC. Everything from the concept to the script is almost entirely lifted from the Breakfast spot. Just watch the Australian morning show promo above, and the 2016 one put out for the BBC show below:

And it seems the BBC took notice. The U.K. network put out this video calling out Channel 9 for their…homage?

Channel 9 defended their ad to the BBC, claiming “the promo, one of several campaigns to promote Today, ran for a short period over our summer break. It has not appeared on air for more than two weeks.”

Stefanovic has yet to respond to the allegations, and is likely still buried under the torrent of abuse he faced at the hands of the internet over a questionable fashion statement.
