Bonnie Tyler appeared on CNN Monday to provide a brief rendition of her 1987 classic “Total Eclipse of the Heart” as anchor John Berman waved a lighter.
Apparently some soulless CNN producer thought it a good idea to feature Tyler in the network’s solar eclipse coverage. Tyler is set to perform on an eclipse cruise put on by The Royal Caribbean cruise company, which will feature “a full slate of eclipse-themed activities.”
Monday’s solar eclipse will be the first “total eclipse” — where the moon completely covers the sun, casting a shadow on the earth — since 1979.
In the absence of any bonkers presidential tweet Monday morning, all networks were doling out wall-to-wall coverage to the natural phenomenon, which is set to go down around noon Eastern time.
But beware: NASA has advised to not stare directly into the sun during the eclipse, without the protection of special glasses.
“Total Eclipse of the Heart” was Tyler’s biggest hit, topping the charts in the United States and a number of other countries and selling more than 6 million copies.
