Watch CNN’s Brooke Baldwin Read Obama’s Statement on DACA Decision In Its Entirety

Immediately following the release of former President Barack Obama’s statement in response to the Trump administration’s decision to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin decided to read the entire three-page response in its entirety on the air.

“As I’ve been talking to you, I was just handed three pages’ worth of a statement from former President Barack Obama,” she said. “So I’m just going to sit here and read every single word of this to all of you.”

And that is what she did, delivering Obama’s message regarding his successor’s decision to get rid of one of the signature achievements of the Obama administration, all the way to his final paragraph:

“What makes us American is not a question of what we look like, or where our names come from, or the way we pray. What makes us American is our fidelity to a set of ideals – that all of us are created equal; that all of us deserve the chance to make of our lives what we will; that all of us share an obligation to stand up, speak out, and secure our most cherished values for the next generation. That’s how America has traveled this far. That’s how, if we keep at it, we will ultimately reach that more perfect union.”

After Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the rescision of DACA this morning, Trump released his own statement, claiming it was now “time for Congress to act.”
