President Donald Trump held an event kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month on Friday, giving a speech before a crowd assembled at the White House.
He touched on a number of topics in his speech, from the economy to the Las Vegas mass shooting.
And then, he addressed Puerto Rico, which faces a humanitarian crisis after it was devastated by Hurricane Maria, leaving most of the island without electricity or even clean water.
“We are also praying for the people of Puerto Rico,” Trump declared, saying the island’s name in an exaggerated Spanish accent.
“We love Puerto Rico,” he continued, again with the accent. “Puerto Rico.”
As a woman from the crowd yelled “we love you!” Trump said “and we also love Puerto Rico,” this time in his normal accent.
