WATCH LIVE: Brett Kavanaugh’s Third Day of Supreme Court Confirmation Hearings

Judge Brett Kavanuagh will appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee today for his third round of hearings concerning his nomination to the Supreme Court. The hearing will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Kavanaugh’s confirmation proceedings have been a major source of political fireworks this week, ever since his first hearing was disrupted by protesters and Democratic requests to suspend his confirmation until they can finish reviewing the White House’s document dump about his work for George W. Bush. Today, Kavanuagh will return to answer more questions about his standing on the country’s most pressing legal issues, along with how he intends to conduct himself on the Supreme Court.

Based on yesterday’s contentious events, it’s possible Kavanaugh is about to face a new set of grueling questions. Multiple senators pressed Kavanaugh by asking whether he lied in 2006 when he said he never discussed detention and enhanced interrogation of enemy combatants during his federal judge nomination. Kavanaugh also attracted attention when he failed to answer questions about whether presidents are legally obligated to respond to subpoenas, and whether the power to pardon can be used on themselves.
