White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow will substitute for Sarah Huckabee Sanders today by holding a press briefing to discuss the upcoming G7 summit. The briefing is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET.
Kudlow will surely be asked about President Donald Trump‘s tariffs — which have not been well received by the international community. In a phone conversation with the president earlier this week, British Prime Minister Theresa May said she believes the tariffs on steel and aluminum from her country are “unjustified” and “disappointing.”
Kudlow, while working in the private sector, was less enthusiastic about the idea of tariffs. But now, as a key member of the president’s cabinet, he’s hopped on board.
The idea of the United States negotiating separate trade deals with Canada and Mexico outside of NAFTA has also surfaced in recent days. Expect Kudlow to address this at some point.
