The Martin MacNeill murder trial closes this week. MacNeill is accused of drugging and then drowning his wife, Michele MacNeill, on April 11th, 2007. The Utah doctor has pleaded not guilty in the case and faces life in prison if he is convicted. Prosecutors argued that MacNeill intentionally killed his wife after she received a face-lift operation.
Closing arguments and rebuttals are in the midst of wrapping up now. The trial is expected to go to jury shortly.
UPDATE: The jury reached a verdict early Saturday morning, finding Dr. Martin MacNeill guilty of first degree murder. He will face 15 years to life in prison when he is sentenced in January.
