Last night’s one-hour season six finale of NBC’s Parks and Recreation featured a ton of big name cameos and surprises, but that one that hit Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope the hardest was her run-in with First Lady Michelle Obama. Announced earlier this year, the first lady’s appearance managed to be even more awkwardly overwhelming for Knope that her previous encounter with Vice President Joe Biden.
The mere presence of Mrs. Obama caused Knope to lose control of the volume of her voice and nod vigorously at everything the first lady was saying, including a plug for her signature “Let’s Move” program. After a high-five, Obama urged Knope to make a big move in her career. “I hope you take the job,” she said. “Change happens one person at a time.”
