Watch Morning Joe Mercilessly Mock Rubio’s ‘Shagalicious’ Austin Powers Footwear
As Willie Geist began to briefly discuss the fact that Marco Rubio was photographed on the campaign trail wearing what appears to be two-inch heels on his boots, the Morning Joe panel interrupted him for clarification. The issue at hand stemmed from a Tweet by Michael Barbaro of the New York Times, who photographed the Florida Senator on the campaign trail Tuesday and his questionable footwear choice.

While the Ted Cruz campaign identified Rubio’s shoes as “high-heeled booties”, Morning Joe cohosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski were a bit taken by surprise at the footwear choice, mocking the candidate for his “Austin Powers” fashion.
“Oh my god look at that!” exclaimed Scarborough when they showed the above image, before continuing, “They’re shagalicious!”
“No, no, he didn’t do that! He did not wear those,” Brzezinski joined in.
Scarborough seemed outraged, saying, “Stop the presses! I really don’t believe he wore those boots. This is straight out of an Austin Powers movie… and you’re wearing that in New Hampshire?”
The entire panel continued to cackle its way through the segment as Geist attempted to steer the conversation back onto politics with MSNBC contributor Robert Costa.
“There is something wrong with that,” noted Brzezinski. At the conclusion of the show, Brzezinski brought up the fashion faux-pas again, saying that she just might wear those same shoes on the show Thursday morning.
