If you’re going to be stuck on a place for three hours without moving, you might as well get to hear a performance from a world-class orchestra. Fortunately for passengers waiting on a tarmac in Beijing, the Philadelphia Orchestra were on hand to serenade them with Antonin Dvorak’s “American String Quartet No. 12 Finale.”
Several appreciative passengers filmed the impromptu performance, laughing at one moment when a cell phone started ringing mid-song. The orchestra was traveling from Beijing to Macao as part of their Fortieth Anniversary Tour of China after first visiting the country in 1973.
So, wherever you happen to be stuck this Friday afternoon, enjoy this incredible performance by the Philadelphia Orchestra.
