Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will hold an on-camera press briefing today to discuss the latest plans and questions involving the Trump Administration.
Sanders is likely to start today’s conference by talking about federal plans to deal with Hurricane Harvey before it hits Texas. The Category 2 storm is expected to intensify throughout the day, and Sanders may discuss President Trump‘s efforts to monitor the storm’s progress and strategize with local officials.
There is a high probability that Sanders will face questions today about the growing level of friction between Trump and Republican Congressional leaders. Earlier today, Trump took aim at Bob Corker over comments the senator made last week where he questioned the president’s competency in the immediate aftermath of Charlottesville. Sanders wouldn’t dignify Corker’s comments with a response when asked about them yesterday, but between Trump’s tweet and his jabs at other figures, it is possible the topic of GOP infighting will come up again.
It is also possible that Sanders will take questions about Gary Cohn‘s comments and concerns about how Trump responded to the racially-charged violence earlier this month. Cohn and his associates gave multiple interviews saying that Trump has to do more to condemn white supremacists, and that Cohn came very close to resigning as White House economics adviser recently.
