Late-night host Jay Leno took note of the Republican Party’s recent attempts to become a more welcoming and inclusive party, as reflected in their autopsy report. Noticing a shift in some Republicans’ stances, Leno mocked the “Brand New Party” for adopting some stances more often attributed to those on the other side o the political spectrum.
“After losing two presidential elections in a row, the Republican Party now has outlined a plan to attract minorities,” Leno informed. As well as “women, gays, lesbians, young voters.” To demonstrate just how remarkable the change is, Leno showed us the GOP’s newest ad introducing America to “the brand new Republican Party.”
“We’ve just our position on just about everything,” the voiceover excitedly announces. “We’ll raise taxes on everyone who makes more money than you. Also, we’ve decided that we’re a-okay with same-sex marriages. In fact, we’ll even pay for the honeymoon!”
And immigration? No worries: “We’ll not only embrace immigrants, we’ll make it easier to get into the country — by installing a moving sidewalk on the border.”
