WH Spox: ‘Democrats and the Mainstream News Media’ Have Created More ‘Chaos’ Than Russia
As part of the White House push to frame the recent indictments of Russian nationals and entities for election interference as a vindication for President Donald Trump when it comes to collusion, White House spokesperson Hogan Gidley appeared on Fox & Friends this morning to parrot the president’s reaction to the news.
And besides reiterating Trump’s claims that this shows there was “no collusion” and that the Trump campaign did nothing wrong, Gidley also took aim at Democrats and the press.
Stating that the indictments showed Russian interference began in 2014, Gidley told the F&F hosts that this happened “under President Barack Obama’s nose” and that he “didn’t do a thing about it.” He further said the charges prove Trump correct that there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Noting that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said that the Russians were trying cause chaos in the election, Gidley then claimed there were two entities who created more discord than the Russian government.
“There are two groups that have created chaos more than the Russians and that’s the Democrats and the mainstream media who continued to push this lie on the American people for more than a year and quite frankly Americans should be outraged by that,” Gidley declared.
These indictments stated that Trump campaign officials who came in contact with Russian meddlers did so unwittingly. They also noted, however, that the Russian efforts were largely meant to disparage Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and help Trump’s campaign.
