White House Deputy Press Secretary on Micheal Wolff: He’s ‘Quite Frankly a Crackpot’
Earlier this week, following the publication of excerpts from Michael Wolff’s upcoming White House tell-all that included a bunch of unflattering comments made by former White House strategist Steve Bannon and others, President Donald Trump released a statement claiming Bannon had “lost his mind.”
It looks like Trump’s messaging revolving around questioning the mental fitness of those involved in the book has spread within his administration.
Appearing on CNN this evening, White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley went after Wolff personally. After telling host Erin Burnett that CNN was running with the book excerpts “lock, stock, and barrel,” he then took direct aim at Wolff.
“This is full of false information, inaccuracies, and quite frankly this author is quite frankly a crackpot, fake news fantasy fiction writer and it’s been proven time and time again,” Gidley exclaimed. “By his own admission, he says he’s loose with the facts and journalists say that’s his reputation. So let’s not run this wall to wall on CNN saying it’s all factual, it’s not.”
Burnett went on to note that the quotes she was sharing from the book this evening were from Bannon, leading Gidley to then shift his attention to discrediting the Breitbart chief.
