White House Reporters Grill Sarah Sanders on Trump-Omarosa Feud: ‘Why Did He Hire Her?!’

It didn’t take long for Omarosa‘s new book to become a big topic at today’s White House press briefing.

She’s made a lot of serious––many unverified––allegations against President Donald Trump and the White House, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders made it clear at the outset Manigault Newman is just not credible.

ABC News’ Jon Karl opened by asking her about the President’s tweet attacking her as a “dog” and asked if that’s appropriate.

Sanders said Trump was just “voicing his frustration with the fact that this person has shown a complete lack of integrity.”

Karl followed up with the obvious question: “Why did he hire her?!”

“The President wanted to give her a chance,” she said, “and he made clear when General Kelly came on and he voiced concerns that this individual didn’t have the best interests of the White House and the President and the country at heart, the President said do what you can to get along. If you can’t, he gave him full authority to carry out the decision to let her go.”

When asked about Trump continuing to respond to the book instead of ignoring it, Sanders proceeded to blame the media for giving the book so much attention, saying they didn’t care about Omarosa until she turned on Trump.
