She mentioned no names, but Whoopi Goldberg was definitely thinking about Elisabeth Hasselbeck and countless other media reports at the start of The View this morning, when she slammed the gossipmongering and catfighting surrounding the search for a new host.
While Whoopi said they hadn’t confirmed who would replace Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy, she was pissed that the drama surrounding the replacements took focus away from the show itself. “I will do my best to respect the audience, to make sure that we bring you the view that Barbara Walters wanted you to have, which is women talking about issues,” she said to cheers. “We are not little kids. We are grown-ass women.”
Though she didn’t directly respond to Hasselbeck’s comments about returning View co-host Rosie O’Donnell (namely, that the comedian planned on hijacking the show and making it about the liberal agenda), Whoopi told the world to quit making everything about potential drama-bombs. “I’m just tired of people saying, ‘oh, you know if this one comes in, or if this one comes in,’ I don’t argue with people, we have spirited discussions.
“Quit trying to make me into something I’m not,” she added. “I’m not a little girl with cat claws. I’m not a cat. I’m a girl with a fist, okay?”
