Why Do Meteorologists Start Disappearing By the Score on St. Patrick’s Day?
I’m gonna get a bit technical here and explain how green screening works. When you put the green in the background, you adjust chroma key settings so that any green will be wiped out of the shot and replaced by whatever image or graphic is meant to pop up in its place. In other words, no wearing green in front of a green screen.
Which brings us to St. Patrick’s Day, and the reason why so many meteorologists who stand in front of green screens to do their jobs do NOT have the same holiday spirit everyone else does.
For example, here’s Fox News meteorologist Maria Molina with a firm hold on Mexico.

And she wasn’t the only one.

Downfall of being a meteorologist on St. Patrick's Day, green screen gets me every time I try to get in the "spirit"! pic.twitter.com/gTRlMX8xN7

And you can also watch these incredibly cheesy videos of meteorologists having fun with the green screen from, respectively, KARD and WBNS-10TV
