The Blaze’s Will Cain joined the hosts of The View on Wednesday morning, and one of the big issues they tackled was guns. Cain repeatedly insisted that all the statistics show gun violence is “down drastically” and battled the others on how effective gun control would be in stopping more school shootings.
Cain said the simple fact is “crazy people exist’ and “when the media reports so breathlessly and salaciously on these things, these guys copycat each other.”
Sherri Shepherd argued that it’s much easier and quicker to do damage “in five seconds with a gun than you can do with a knife.” McCarthy, herself a gun owner, agreed, but Cain shot back, “When we indict guns, too often we indict people like you, Jenny, or me, who actually own guns. We’re law-abiding people.”
Whoopi Goldberg also said she’s a gun owner, but made it clear she has no problem with any kind of background check “to make everyone else feel comfortable.” Cain questioned whether that’s actually the right course of action, because “if gun violence is going down, why is that what we’re focusing on?” Whoopi disputed the idea it actually is going down.
