Wolf Blitzer got combative with Hillary Clinton ally Lanny Davis tonight when Davis tried to dismiss the seriousness of what FBI Director James Comey said about her email use today.
As Blitzer told Davis, Comey said she was amazingly reckless and that any “reasonable person” would have known that some of that material was classified and shouldn’t have been on a private server.
Davis repeatedly insisted Clinton “already said she made a mistake,” but Blitzer kept pushing on the negligence issue. Davis kept going back and forth between defending Comey from Donald Trump‘s attacks and criticizing Comey for going “beyond his jurisdiction by expressing opinions on evidence.”
Blitzer pointed to the argument that Clinton set up the private server “because she didn’t want the American public to have access” to her emails. He asked Davis why he nor anyone else close to Clinton said to her, “What were you thinking?”
Davis dismissively said, “Wisdom is hindsight.”
