Pastor Darrell Scott defended Trump’s “Look at my African-American over here!” line by saying it was a “term of endearment” and part of Trump’s willingness to be politically incorrect.
CNN’s Tara Setmayer ridiculed that assessment as “political Stockholm Syndrome” and said, “He felt the need to have to point him out because he was black and in the crowd.”
At one point, Scott made the assertion that if it was a black candidate pointing out a white supporter, there would be no outrage. (There probably would be.)
Things got more heated as the segment continued and Scott told Setmayer, “You’re trying to act like you’re not aware of the racial climate in America!… The only reason I stand out as a Trump supporter is because I’m black!”
Setmayer said it’s Trump who’s engaging in the identity politics here.
Scott declared, “You find me an aberration because I’m black and I support Trump!”
