Dan Wootton parted ways with GB News Tuesday, announcing his departure to launch his own media brand, Dan Wootton Outspoken.
In a post to X, Wootton said: “I have left GB News to launch my own independent platform Dan Wootton Outspoken which will feature a brand new daily news and opinion show from later this year that will NOT be regulated by the Ofcommunist censors.”
In his statement, Wootton continued to take aim at media watchdog Ofcom, blasting the regulator as “a muzzle that bows to the woke mob.” He demanded the government “rein in” the organisation which he said was run by “Ofcommunists” and “state goons.” He added that the investigation into his GB News show reflected the persecution that former Prime Minister Liz Truss referred to as the “deep state” in her speaking engagements at the US Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in February.
Wootton’s tenure at GB News was embroiled in controversy, most notably when he failed to denounce guest Laurence Fox’s derogatory remarks
While Wootton refrained from sharing detailed plans, a link to a Substack for his Outspoken platform was posted late Tuesday, offering subscription packages.
GB News confirmed Wootton’s exit in a memo sent to staff internally: “Dan is no longer employed by GB News, and we thank him for his contribution and wish him well with his future endeavours.”
