Brian Kilmeade: Trump Declaring National Emergency Would Be A ‘Disaster…Terrible Precedent…Inept’

Brian Kilmeade continues to play the role of Fox & Friends iconoclast.

While a total breakdown in negotiations over border wall funding that has led to the 19th day of government shutdown, more reporters believe that President Donald Trump is more likely to declare a national emergency to use money from the Pentagon budget to pay for the border wall that he campaigned on.

While Steve Doocy and Ainsley Earhardt both appear to be in support on Trump’s “national emergency” gambit (or at least dispassionate about it), Kilmeade has a different position.

Kilmeade said of a potential national emergency declared for wall funding “would just be a disaster in the big picture and just show us being inept and unable to govern around the world and set a terrible precedent.” He then went on and explained how a “liberal president” could use the same tactic because “polar bears who have no place to walk on ice.”

It is interesting to imagine how Fox News opinion program would have covered President Barack Obama threatening to declare a national emergency to appropriate dollars to fulfill a campaign promise that the majority of American citizens are not behind. The calls of despotism — and much worse — would never end.
