CNN’s rebooted version of Crossfire didn’t fare so well in its first week of broadcast. Nielsen ratings show that the new program actually declined in ratings from its timeslot predecessor, The Situation Room.
The new show dropped 14 percent in total viewers from the previous week’s airings of The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer. It also slipped 7 percent in the key 25-54 demographic.
The revived Crossfire also experienced its own day-to-day decline in total and demo (25-54) viewership, hitting its lowest point on Friday in both categories. As The Wrap pointed out, by first week’s end, Crossfire had declined roughly 47% in total viewers (and 40% in demo viewers) compared to its Monday premiere
The rough start for Crossfire also placed it 14th among 17 CNN shows for total viewership last week.
