The RNC is now weighing in on CNN’s decision to reject a Trump campaign First 100 Days ad, even saying they should apologize.
CNN explained they refused to air the ad because of this graphic:
“The mainstream media is not fake news,” CNN said, “and therefore the ad is false. Per our policy, it will be accepted only if that graphic is deleted.”
The Trump campaign responded by accusing CNN of censorship and saying this epitomizes the kind of fake news they’re talking about.
RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel released a statement in response, explicitly calling for the network to apologize:
The network’s clearly biased decision to block President Trump’s message to the American people is incredibly troubling,” said Chairwoman McDaniel. “Freedom of speech is a hallmark of our nation’s founding, and it is concerning that CNN, who I assume to be a strong supporter of the first amendment, would stifle speech that they disagree with. CNN should allow the ad to be aired and apologize for their attempt to block the President’s message.
