Shooting Leaves Two People Dead, Four Injured at Thanksgiving Football Tournament

screen-shot-2016-11-24-at-9-57-29-pmTragedy struck Louisville, Kentucky today when two people were killed during an annual Thanksgiving football tournament.

At around 2 p.m. the local “Juice Bowl” at Shawnee Park was thrown into disarray when gunshots started ringing out. Four people were hospitalized with non life-threatening wounds, but two men could not be saved.

“When you have a tragedy like this take place, certainly it puts a damper on anyone celebrating” said Dwight Mitchell of the Louisville Metro Police Department. “It is a day to be thankful and we’re thankful that more people were not hurt.”

WAVE-3 picked up a video from Stephen Washburn, who was streaming the Juice Bowl on Facebook when he inadvertently recorded the incident. The shooters are not visible in the video, but approximately 20 gunshots can be heard. News, Weather & Sports

The rest of the games were cancelled, and the police have launched an investigation into the incident. Mayor Greg Fischer put out a statement expressing his sadness for the violence, and asking the community for assistance.
