In the wake of the death of longtime Democratic New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg, Gov. Chris Christie will hold a press conference at 1:30 p.m. EDT on Tuesday to announce his office’s plans for what happens to that vacant Senate seat. Christie’s office will have to consider a replacement for Lautenberg and much speculation has surrounded his decision making? Will Christie appoint a Democrat given that any Republican he appoints is unlikely to win a special election? Will Christie set the election for November, 2013, when he is also up for reelection, possibly syphoning Democratic votes away from his ultimate tally? Many of these questions could be answered today.
