An Idaho woman who was among the hundreds of people busted in the January 6 siege at the U.S. Capitol in 2021 is fighting to return the pardon she received from President Donald Trump, CBS correspondent Scott MacFarlane reports.
Pamela Hemphill, the Idaho woman branded “MAGA Granny” after she was detained for her involvement in the chaos at the Capitol, says she has appealed to Sen. James Risch (R-ID) to help secure formal certification from the Department of Justice that she is rejecting her pardon.
“The pardons just contribute to their narrative, which is all lies, propaganda,” Hemphill told CBS. “We were guilty, period.”
She added that the pardons were a tactic to drive Trump’s narrative that January 6 defendants were targeted by former President Joe Biden’s Justice Department.
