Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on Monday announced she revoked the security clearance of more than 50 political foes of President Donald Trump.
Weeks after Trump’s second term began, he announced that he had revoked the clearance of former President Joe Biden. Doing so prevents Biden from accessing classified information. According to Trump, Biden “could not be trusted with sensitive information” due to Biden allegedly suffering from “poor memory.”
Just a day later, Trump continued revoking clearances when he revealed on Truth Social that former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and New York Attorney General Letitia James would be next on the list.
When pressed about the moves and asked if they were done as a form of retribution for the legal cases brought against him, Trump simply said, “There are people that we don’t respect,” before pivoting to attacks on the previous administration.
On Monday, Gabbard made those moves official.
