Barstool Sports podcast host Kirk Minihane torched the “extreme right” — and his own boss — following the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel.
ABC handed down Kimmel’s suspension Wednesday as a result of his comments on the killing of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. Kimmel accused MAGA supporters of trying to distance themselves from the suspected shooter and implied the shooter was one of them. He also claimed they did so in an effort to score political points.
The most recent information from law enforcement suggests that the suspect — 22-year-old Tyler Robinson — held left-wing views.
Because of the outrage that Kimmel’s comments elicited, many approved of ABC’s decision to suspend him. That included Barstool founder Dave Portnoy, who argued that the suspension was an example of there being “consequences for your actions,” as opposed to “cancel culture.”
A number of Barstool employees, including Minihane, voiced their disapproval of Portnoy’s stance. On Thursday’s episode of The Kirk Minihane Show, the host elaborated further.
“Right now,
“Typical. I will say, fits the tribe profile,” added Minihane.
Months earlier, Minihane famously got into an intense shouting match with Portnoy over Jewish jokes. Minihane on Thursday claimed Portnoy’s Kimmel take was the latest example of the Barstool founder no longer being a fan of comedy.
