Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers called Donald Trump’s rally in New York “atrocious” while explaining why he appeared in an ad for Vice President Kamala Harris.

On Sunday, Second Gentleman Doug Emboff posted the ad on social media. In it, Emhoff and others are in a huddle with Rivers as the coach lays out a game plan to win the election — which includes traveling to swing states to “make sure folks know that Kamala is going to take care of all of them, just like she takes care of her family.”

Before the Bucks’ game against the Boston Celtics on Monday, Rivers was asked about the ad and went into detail about the significance of the upcoming election.

“It was really about voting,” Rivers said. “Obviously, I’m biased; and I’m not gonna do a [Gregg Popovich] here today. He was right, everything that he said. I just think this election is really important. If you saw Madison Square Garden — I mean, come on. To me,

it’s just, it’s so important to vote. I’m gonna keep it as close to that as possible, but my gosh. When I tell people, ‘If the guy was so great, why did 80 million people vote against him the last time he ran?’ — I don’t know. I don’t get it. I don’t, but we gotta do something about — that was atrocious what we saw. If you’re a Black man or a woman, or brown, Latino or Puerto Rican, they hit everybody and it was awful.”
