The Saturday match-up between the Buffalo Bills and the LA Chargers has NFL fans pissed off. Not over a bad call (yet), but over the fact that the game is airing exclusively on NBC’s streaming service Peacock.
On X (formerly Twitter) that frustration was vented thoroughly Saturday night, complete with some creative visual aids.
Among the many complaints and general pissed off responses to the streaming-only broadcast on NBC’s Peacock, a lot of people pointed out the stacking up of fees to stay plugged in to football this season.
“Pay for the Sunday ticket. Then pay for prime to watch Thursday games. Then pay for Peacock to watch this dumb ass Saturday game,” one user wrote. “Fuck you.”
“NFL decision-makers have been flat-out INSULTING to NFL fans,” wrote another. “Insistence on Thursday games every week. Giving Amazon a Black Friday game to manipulate us into staying home & ordering from Prime. Partnering with Peacock to manipulate us into subscribing. A monopoly on Christmas… All to make a cheap buck.”
And there was also the, um, age gap, to put it politely, in being able to get on and use Peacock or even being willing to try.
I can relate.
The mix of humor and outrage have been going strong from before the game started and on through the time of this post.
There were also reports of technical issues with the feed, such as stuttered images and lag, but neither the NFL nor Peacock made mention of any problems in their social media posting during the first half.
