Stephen A. Smith was briefly brought out of his element on the latest episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show, and the results were incredible.
Smith encourages viewers to ask him questions on Twitter. Then, a handful of them are picked for Smith to answer on the show.
On Thursday’s episode, one of those questions was related to Pokémon. A user simply known as Randy tweeted a photo of three Pokémon — Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle — and asked Smith, “Which one you taking.”
The 56-year-old had no idea what he was looking at.
“What the hell are these?” Smith asked while looking at the photo. “What are these?”
Smith then proceeded to butcher the names of the Pokémon. He pronounced Bulbasaur like “bulba-zar” and “bulba-sour” and Charmander like “sha-mander.” Impressively, Smith did pronounce Squirtle correctly.
“These are Pokémon? I guess that’s what it is,” Smith continued. “I’m gonna say… You know what I’m gonna say? Sha-mander. That’s who I would take because it reminds me of me, because of the forehead. That’s what I’m gonna go with.”
The producers of the show them put up a surprisingly accurate side-by-side comparison of Smith and Charmander.
Smith’s non-sports content on his show has become some
In a later tweet, Smith posted a photoshopped image of him as Ash Ketchum, the protagonist of the Pokémon television series, and asked his followers, “Did I pick right?”
