A Newsmax host recalling President Joe Biden’s gaffes and memory lapses had a momentary lapse himself on Thursday.

Rob Finnerty was interviewing Rep. James Comer (R-KY) about the latter’s investigation into the Biden family when he cited former Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on the president.

Hur was appointed to probe Biden’s retention of government documents after leaving the Senate and the vice presidency. Ultimately, Hur declined to charge Biden in part because a jury would see the president “as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

Republicans have called on the Department of Justice to release audio of Hur’s interview with Biden, but Attorney General Merrick Garland has so far refused.

“Robert Hur in his report said that he didn’t recommend charges for Biden because a jury wouldn’t rule against Joe Biden because he’s a quote ‘well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,'” Finnerty said. “And he gave us examples. He said that Biden didn’t know that Africa was a country. He couldn’t remember the year that his son died. He didn’t know the last names of staff members. He forgot when he was vice president. All very embarrassing stuff.”

Africa, of course, is a continent and not a country.

The Hur report mentions “Africa” once, but not in the aforementioned context.

“How are

you going to get those tapes?” Finnerty asked Comer.

“We’re gonna continue to go through the legal process,” the lawmaker said.
