On Friday, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow brought in not only her network’s highest ratings — but also beat the primetime lineups on each competing network (Fox News, CNN, HLN) in the demo. That didn’t hold true for total viewers, however, where Fox remained number one.

While MSNBC’s primetime hosts have been beating their Fox News counterparts recently, Fox remains at the top of primetime cable news ratings. Monday through Friday of last week, Fox news averaged 509,000 viewers in the demo and 2.540 million total viewers — while MSNBC averaged 489,000 viewers in the demo and 1.587 million total viewers.
