Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo reportedly called former Attorney General Bill Barr “screaming” about voter fraud, a new book by ABC’s Jonathan Karl alleges.
CNN reported that in Betrayal: The Final Act of the Trump Show, which comes out on Tuesday, Barr told Karl that the Fox News anchor called him shortly after the 2020 election “and she was screaming.”
“I yelled back at her,” Barr continued. “She’s lost it.”
Allegations of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election are baseless, and later audits — including a GOP review in Arizona — have found no evidence that the election was stolen.
Barr has rejected former President Donald Trump‘s voter fraud claims, and told Karl the rhetoric was “all bullshit.”
Karl said he reached out to Bartiromo for comment, because, “after all, it’s highly inappropriate for a journalist to call the attorney general and demand he do something related to a criminal investigation.”
While Bartiromo did not respond to Karl herself, she issued a
In an email to Mediaite, a Fox News spokesperson responded on Maria Bartiromo’s behalf, noting the anchor denied the allegations.
The book reportedly mentions Bartiromo multiple times and suggests that her Sunday morning program may have played a role in amplifying false voter fraud conspiracies that Trump himself promoted. The former president was a frequent guest on Bartiromo’s show and effusively praised her.
Karl noted that the day after the election was called for President Joe Biden, Bartiromo interviewed conspiracy theorist and lawyer Sidney Powell.
Karl wrote that as Powell delivered a “fevered rant,” Bartiromo “didn’t express one ounce of skepticism.”
UPDATE 11:15 pm: This post has been updated to clarify that Bartiromo denied the account to Karl via a spokesperson.
