Meghan McCain today fired back on The View against the vile comments about her father that came out yesterday.
White House official Kelly Sadler, in talking about John McCain‘s opposition to Gina Haspel, remarked, “It doesn’t matter, he’s dying anyway.” And there was also Fox Business guest Thomas McInerney saying torture “worked on John [and] that’s why they call him ‘Songbird John.'”
On The View today, McCain made it clear she and her family have received “so much more love and prayer” than garbage like this and she thanked everyone who’s sent their well-wishes and prayers their way.
As for Sadler, McCain said that “we’re all dying” and “it is not how you die, it is how you live.”
McCain got pretty serious reflecting on the value of life and no longer fearing death, before saying she doesn’t understand “what kind of environment you’re working in” where that kind of comment would be acceptable.
Her co-hosts all agreed her father deserves better than that, with Joy Behar praising John McCain as a patriot.
McCain also had this to say about dealing with comments like those from Sadler and McInerney:
“It was a hard day yesterday, but I’m surrounded by––I get to come into work with women I genuinely have such affection for and respect. I
have so much love around my family. My father’s legacy is going to be talked about for hundreds and hundreds of years. These people? Nothing burgers.”
