Aurora Congressman’s Reaction To Theater Shooter: ‘Psychotic Son Of A Bitch’

The federal congressman who represents the district that contains Aurora, Colo., had a rather intense reaction to the Thursday night shooting at a local movie theater during The Dark Knight Rises which left at least 12 people dead and dozens more injured.

“I got an alert about an hour ago from the White House that this had occurred,” GOP Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-CO) told Denver’s 850 KOA News Radio. “I mean, we finished voting late last night, and then to have a psychotic son of a bitch do something like this.” The congressman explained that he had been up late for a vote and woke up around 5 a.m. to a text about the situation. “And I’m sorry for the cussing. You know, it just is boggling to my mind.”

“There are some sick and violent and psychotic people, but Colorado is not a violent place,” Perlmutter explained. His district is not far from the location of the tragic 1999 Columbine massacre. “Columbine, and now this guy, whoever this person is, I just don’t know why we have

a couple crazy people like that and how they have such easy access to guns.”

“Colorado is not a violent place but I’m afraid we’ve got some crazy, violent people that have sometimes shown up in our midst,” he said as his voice began to crack.
