As the nation reacts to the school shooting yesterday in Parkland, Florida, Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr is bashing the government for its failure to take meaningful action to prevent such massacres.
The attack on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School left 17 dead and others wounded yesterday, and it has prompted a resurgence of discussions about gun control and violence prevention. When Kerr was asked for his reaction yesterday, he lamented that “nothing has been done,” to stop this from happening again.
“It doesn’t seem to matter our government that children are being shot to death day after day in schools. It doesn’t matter that people are being shot at a concert, at a movie theater. It’s not enough, apparently, to move our leadership, our government, the people running our country, to actually do anything.”
Kerr continued to say this is all quite “disgusting” and “demoralizing,” and he said that the public needs to take action by voting in new leadership who doesn’t “bow down to the NRA.”
“That’s demoralizing,” Kerr added. “But we can do something about it. We can vote people in who actually have the courage to protect people’s lives, and not just bow down to the NRA because they have financed their campaign for them.”
