The Attorney General of New York, Eric Schneiderman, today lamented Gawker filing for bankruptcy and invoked freedom of the press.

Gawker filed for bankruptcy as a result for losing in court to Hulk Hogan (in a case that was funded by Silicon Valley venture capitalist Peter Thiel) and being ordered to pay up.

Schneiderman tweeted this out earlier today:

Now, a few commenters took issue with Schneiderman’s comment––some because of their feelings about Gawker, others because of Schneiderman being part of an inquiry into climate change deniers:
