President Joe Biden had something to celebrate at the beginning of July — a big jump in campaign fundraising for the month of June, which included a spike in donations following the first presidential debate.
Biden’s campaign released their numbers, which revealed a solid $127 million raised during the month of June, a 50 percent increase from the month before. The figure included $38 million that poured in after the debate, despite overwhelmingly negative criticism of Biden’s performance. Campaign officials stated that they began the month with $240 million after they spent $50 million on ad buys, plus an expansion of their reelection campaign.
Some additional figures provided by the campaign were the percentage of small donations in the second fundraising quarter. From April to June, 95 percent of donations were less than $200, with 864,000 of those being first-time donors.

Biden’s June numbers were an improvement over May, when Trump enjoyed his own fundraising spike following his felony conviction. As of this writing, the Trump campaign had not yet shared their fundraising haul for the month of June.
