The battleground state of Wisconsin has been called by Fox News for former President Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris.

Wisconsin has been decided by razor thin margins in recent election cycles, and has been viewed as a toss-up swing state in polls.

Trump was victorious in 2016, taking 47.22% (1,405,284 votes) to Hillary Clinton’s 46.45% (1,382,536 votes), a margin of only 22,748 votes. Wisconsin flipped blue in 2020, with President Joe Biden winning 49.45% (1,630,866 votes) to Trump’s 48.82% (1,610,184 votes), an even narrower margin of 20,682 votes.

The final Real Clear Politics average had Harris up +0.4 points over Trump. Trump had been leading Biden by a margin of about 3 points and growing, but once Biden dropped out of the race in July, Harris narrowed the gap and the race has been within about a point since September.

Polls in the Badger State closed at 9 pm ET, 8 pm local time. Decision Desk HQ’s analysis of Wisconsin noted

it was likely to be one of the first “Blue Wall” states to be able to be called.

Wisconsin and its 10 electoral votes is expected to report essentially all of its votes on election night/morning and could be the first of the “blue wall states” to be called. The key to a Harris victory will be around Dane (Madison), Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, and Washington Counties. Trump will be looking to keep the race close in these counties while running up his margins in the more exurban and rural areas of the state.

Other analyses similarly expected the state to wrap counting in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Milwaukee hosted the GOP convention in June, amid Trump making headlines for insulting the city.

The call for Wisconsin by Fox News was enough for the network to project Trump would win the entire race, securing the necessary Electoral College votes to become the 47th President of the United States.
