Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) fired back at President Donald Trump’s vow to “lead the charge” in primarying him by asking for donations so that there will be “at least one person in Congress who won’t cave.”
Massie shared Trump’s Truth Social post blasting him and wrote, “Why don’t more Representatives stand on principle? Because telling the truth can get you in hot water. I’m going to need your help. I will run again because we need at least one person in Congress who won’t cave. Can you show support by contributing now?”
Trump followed up his Monday night attack on Massie with another post on Tuesday, writing, ““Congressman” Thomas Massie voted to delay the Debt Ceiling Bill from the Biden Administration to the Trump Administration (from September before the Election, to June after the Election!), without getting anything for this horrendously stupid move — When Republicans could have gotten EVERYTHING they wanted.”
“He additionally voted to delay the current Budget Disaster from the Biden Administration to the Trump Administration. I was running for Office at the time, doing my
Massie has long bucked his own party on key votes, particularly when it comes to spending and foreign policy as he promotes limiting the scope of government wherever possible. “I’m not voting for the Continuing Resolution budget (cut-copy-paste omnibus) this week. Why would I vote to continue the waste fraud and abuse DOGE has found? We were told the CR in December would get us to March when we would fight. Here we are in March, punting again!” Massie wrote on X over the weekend.
Trump 2024 campaign manager Chris LaCivita joined in the threats against Massie and wrote on X, “Tick tock Tommie.”
Massie replied to LaCivita, writing, “Someone thinks they can control my voting card by threatening my re-election. Guess what? Doesn’t work on me. Three times I’ve had a challenger who tried to be more MAGA than me.
