Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) fumed about missing a family beach trip as Congress was busy voting on President Donald Trump’s economic bill.

The spending package — nicknamed the “Big, Beautiful Bill” by the Trump administration — made further progress Saturday night when the Senate voted to begin debate on it. From there, the bill will have to clear another Senate vote before going back to the House of Representatives for yet another round of voting.

Not long after the Senate voting to begin debate, Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer had Senate staff read out the bill in its entirety — more than 900 pages. The overnight session took more than 16 hours.

Fetterman had apparently grown tired of arduous process of passing the bill. According to CBS’s Alan He, the Pennsylvania senator was especially upset about missing a beach outing with his family.

“Oh my God, I just want to

go home!” Fetterman said. “I’ve already missed our entire trip to the beach… There’s no drama that we know the votes are going to go… And I think, I don’t think it’s really helpful to put people here till some ungodly hour.”

Those comments came as Fetterman face intense scrutiny for missing a significant number of Senate votes. He recently started attending more meetings — but solely because he claimed the media had “weaponized” his mental health issues.
